From Woodstock's earth moving performance of Soul Sacrifice and Evil Ways, his work with John McLaughlin, to the esoterically beautiful Europa (Earth's Cry Heaven's Smile), he has evolved before our eyes and ears. In 2000, the band won 6 Grammys in one night, followed by 3 Latin Grammys. Like few musicians, he single -handedly shattered all barriers between rock and Latin music, across generations, introducing the world to the power and joy of Afro-Latin beats. He gave the world of himself and the culture he represented, forging a path for many a Latin and other fusion artist to follow. There is likely no one on earth alive today that Santana's music has not touched and altered for the better in some way. We celebrate and pay tribute to "Santana's achievements.
